Christmas Wine Boxes

UPDATE AT 17th DECEMBER

We have good stocks of all the wines in our wine boxes: feel free in this final week to email or phone and pre-order a box or two to see you through the festive period.

The shop has been very busy, and a few popular wines have sold out. But we still have about around 500 different wines in all styles and for all budget: £9.75 to £129! FEEL FREE TO BROWSE AND SEE HOW INSPIRATION STRIKES, or ask us for advice.

We’re delighted to introduce 2025’s festive wine boxes.  We’ve scoured our shelves and ransacked our winemakers’ cellars to bring you some great wines at special prices.

We ask you to order in advance as much as possible, whether it is wine, cheese or anything else.  Our aim is to cover all the bases and keep everybody happy – while avoiding endless queues on busy December days!

If ordering in advance doesn’t suit you, you’re very welcome to come to the shop as usual.  But we do strongly recommend doing so in early December when the shop is less busy.  Finally, if you don’t like the look of one or other of our recommendations, let us know and we can substitute. (Or make up any case to suit your taste, time permitting.)

To order, phone us on 01856 888792, use the form below, or email kirknessandgorie@breckan.scot.  We will take payment and confirm when your order will be ready for collection.

Look here for our festive cheese selections, and watch our social media for tastings, special offers and new deliveries of winter essentials like Port!

Wine Box 1: Christmas Party Pack

£65.00 for six bottles

This selection offers popular, easy-drinking wines at great prices. Something for everyone.

  • Pure, Prosecco, Italy, NV. As clean and refreshing as the name suggests!

  • Last Stand, Chardonnay, Australia, 2023. Unoaked: it’s all about the juicy fruit.

  • El Picador, Sauvignon Blanc, Chile, 2024. Zingy gooseberry aromas and a dry finish.

  • La Bastille, Rosé, France, 2023. Strawberry pink in colour and berry flavours too.

  • Seriti, Merlot, South Africa, 2023. Plummy and smooth: a super-fruity all-rounder.

  • Big Beltie, Cabernet Sauvignon, France, 2023. Great with any red meat, especially lamb.

Wine Box 2: New World Wonders

£80.00 for six bottles

Wines that showcase the bright fruit and easy-drinking qualities of ‘New World’ wineries.

  • Te Merio, Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand, 2023. Our love affair with Kiwi Sauv Blanc shows no sign of ending: this is irresistibly aromatic, perfect with mild cheese, any seafood or by itself.

  • Irvine, Springhill Pinot Gris, Australia, 2023. Rich and rounded but dry on the finish. Good with slightly spicy dishes, as well as with white meats including turkey.

  • Amalaya, Torrontes/Riesling, Argentina, 2023. Torrontes is a fantastically aromatic grape, and the Riesling in the blend brings extra fruitiness and body. A superb aperitif, and good with fish and white meat.

  • Pacifico Sur, Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva, Chile, 2021. In a sea of bland Chilean Cab Sauv, this really stands out: rich, smooth, and with beautiful blackcurrant aromas. Try with duck, turkey or cheese.

  • Madbird, Malbec/Ancellotta, Argentina, 2022. One of our most popular reds: big and bold but balanced too. The Ancellotta is a fruity grape that lifts the intensity of the Malbec. Superb with any red meat.

  • Lautarul, Pinot Noir, Romania, 2024. Does Romania count as New World? It’s a new country for us: our first Romanian wine is a light, charming, very flavoursome Pinot. Drink by itself or with lighter dishes.

Wine Box 3: Fun and Funky

£85.00 for six bottles

A selection of bottles with bold and striking labels, and bold and striking wine inside! There’s nothing weird or too challenging, just new, unusual and different taste sensations.

  • El Nino de Paper, Blanc de Noirs, Spain, NV. Named after giant paper puppets paraded through the streets of Valencia in the Las Fallas festival, this is fun, frothy and softly fruity.

  • Le Peewit, Sauvignon Gris, France, 2024. Very like Sauv Blanc but with more body and persistence.

  • Fantini, Pecorino, Italy, 2024. Nothing to do with the cheese, this is a bright limey wine from Abruzzo that is fantastic with all kinds of seafood. Afterwards you can make a lamp from the bottle!

  • Le Professeur, Marselan, France, 2024. The funkiest label in the whole box, but the wine is reassuringly easy to drink: no oak, just loads of dark fruit and a hint of herbs. Enjoy with any meat or strong cheese.

  • Good Luck Club, Cabernet Sauvignon, Australia, 2022. One of our most popular reds, this red is big and beautiful in classic Barossa Valley fashion. Drink by itself or with almost any food. Join the Good Luck Club!

  • El Porvenir, Naranjo, Argentina, 2024. Our first ever recommendation of an orange wine at Christmas! A joyous burst of citrussy fruit and a long, mouth-filling finish. Try with fish, roasted veg, or cheese.

Wine Box 4: Joyeux Noël - a Luxury French Selection

£120.00 for six bottles

Nobody does fine wine and food better than the French, hence our final, truly indulgent case.  This selection will provide a top-notch experience from a glass of fizz at the start of the celebrations to your last sweet mouthful.

  • Jean-Charles Boisset, ‘JCB Caviar’ Crémant de Bourgogne Blanc des Blancs, NV. Made using the traditional Champagne method, this is a rich, rewarding and very classy fizz from the heart of Burgundy.

  • Duc de Mornay, Picpoul de Pinet, 2024. The perfect Languedoc seafood wine: crisp, lemony and refreshing. Perfect with oysters, mussels, scallops or smoked salmon.

  • Domaine des Mazelles, Touraine Chenonceaux, 2023. From the original homeland of Sauvignon Blanc, this is a top-quality aromatic wine to rival any Sancerre or Pouilly Fumé. A perfect aperitif, also excellent with seafood, chicken and young cheese, especially goat’s cheese.

  • Domaine Ternynck, Irancy, 2021. A rare red Burgundy from the far north of the appellation, next door to Chablis. Uniquely, it blends 10% Cesar with 90% Pinot Noir: aromatic and juicy, try with duck or cheese.

  • Brunel de la Gardine, Vacqueyras, 2020. An amazingly rich, smooth and powerful (15% alcohol!) red from a famous Châteauneuf producer: that’ll warm you up on a cold day! Perfect with beef, game or cheese.

  • Chateau Delmond, Sauternes, 2023, 375ml. A half bottle of a luscious sweet wine from Bordeaux. Drink with Roquefort, with creamy desserts (including trifle) or by itself instead of dessert.

 Unmixed cases: sixpacks of pleasure!
